Road to Life 8 Winner
Mississippi Blood Services (MBS) knows that when people donate blood, it is usually an act of giving. You roll up your sleeve and give a pint of blood. You give your time. You give a piece of yourself. You give another a chance at a lifetime. You get a snack and a thank you in return and sometimes a T-shirt. Once a year, one lucky MBS donor gets a vehicle. This year’s Road to Life winner is John McMillan of Richland, who donated at the Mississippi Blood Services Main Center on Tree Street in Flowood.
Mississippi Blood Services concluded another successful “Road to Life” campaign this summer, seeing over 14,000 donors from June 6 through August 19. Partnering with Mac Haik Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram, MBS gave away a 2016 Jeep Renegade. Sixteen finalists from around the state were chosen in random drawings each week. They gathered on August 26 to see which of them would drive away in a brand new Jeep. WLBT’s Barbie Bassett was there to broadcast the winning moment on the WLBT noon broadcast. When long-time, multi-gallon donor John McMillan took his turn to try his key the door unlocked! John has helped a lot of Mississippi patients get back on the road to their lives—MBS was happy to help him get on the road in a new vehicle.
Giving away a car: a lot of excitement and fun.
Giving blood: a little of your time and a pint of your blood.
Saving a life: priceless.
Mississippi Blood Services wants to thank all our donors who participated this year in the Road to Life 8, Mac Haik Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram for their sponsorship in the Road to Life campaign, and every organization that helped sponsor a blood drive this summer.
