Details About Sponsoring a Blood Drive

Mississippi Blood Services appreciates your willingness to help others in your community by sponsoring a blood drive. We want to help make your blood drive a success. Our community representatives would be happy to help you plan your next blood drive.

• Presentations from MBS Staff on how to recruit donors and educate potential donors on the need and process of donating.
• Printed posters, flyers, sign-up sheets, public service announcements and any other promotional materials needed to advertise your blood drive.
• All technical equipment, biohazard containers, portable donor chairs and post-donation information.
• Confidential screening of potential donors to protect both the donor and the blood supply.
• Testing of all donations to ensure the safety of the blood supply and notification of any positive test results, strictly adhering to confidentiality policies.
• Strict adherence to safety regulations set forth by FDA, OSHA and the American Association of Blood Banks.

• Permission to hold the blood drive, convenient date, time, and site for the blood drive and support from management.
• An enthusiastic and interested volunteer coordinator from your company who will recruit and schedule donors. The coordinator may also involve others from your group in donor recruitment and blood drive planning. Volunteers will put up posters, distribute flyers, obtain sign-ups, schedule donors, and get donors to the donation site at their scheduled time.
• A room large enough to accommodate the size of the donor group. Our MBS donor coach is available for “mobile” blood drives if your facility doesn’t have the accommodations.
• Heating/cooling, adequate lighting, electrical outlets and access to restrooms and a telephone.
• Tables and chairs needed based on the size of mobile or number of donors.
• Information about regulations regarding access to facilities.
