Mississippi Blood Services seeks a loyal, consistent, and precise person needed to work in our production laboratory.  This lab position includes preparing quality biological components in strict compliance with SOPs; performing detailed record keeping; and preparing plasma shipments.
 
If you are patient, conscientious and accurate with strong attention to detail; and can interact with co-workers in a helpful, supportive way – you’ll fit in perfectly here.
 
High school diploma and one to three months related experience and/or training preferred.  Basic computer skills required.

We’re looking for an individual with flexible skills who can provide support in the following areas to help meet our mission:


 Representative Duties:

  • Pull and pack orders for shipment to area hospitals
  • Deliver blood products to customers in a safe and timely fashion to meet patient needs
  • Obey all traffic rules and regulations
  • Perform the final audit of products leaving the main center or hospital blood banks
  • Deliver and pick-up products and paperwork according to departmental standard operating procedures
  • Transport and deliver samples in a safe manner
  •   Record all product deliveries
  • Conduct training of new and existing drivers when assigned
  •  Ensure the highest level of customer service possible through effective communication with internal & external customers, associates and peers
  • Perform vehicle inspections as required and document appropriately
 Requirements for Education/Skills/Abilities/Behavioral Assets:
  • Possess/maintain a valid MS driver’s license & excellent driving record.
  • Able to communicate clearly and concisely using the telephone.
  • Able to document written information in a clear and legible manner
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds in order to transport containers.
  • Able to stand, sit and maintain regular and reoccurring physical exertion, such as, reaching, bending, and lifting for long periods.
  • Possess/maintain good vision for safe driving purposes and ability to document
  • Able to sit and drive long distances while maintaining concentration.
  • Able to operate hand held trucks, cellular phones, and pagers.
  •  Ability to work with and through others in a friendly, cooperative, unselfish manner in building relationships.
  • Work closely and accurately within established guidelines.
  • Work at a faster than-average pace while handling detail work accurately.
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred but not required and must possess basic reading and mathematical skills.
  • Ability to work safely in both daylight and dark conditions
 Work Hours (each description is for a different position): 
  • On-call 7 days/nights on, 7 days/nights off, Hattiesburg (part time) Requires reliable personal vehicle, mileage paid.
  • Tuesdays and Saturdays 1:00a-11:00a  Jackson(round trip delivery from Jackson to Little Rock, AR each day)

Representative Duties:
  • Provide outstanding customer service to donors, with all interactions to be conducted in a friendly, supportive and  professional manner.
  • Perform all aspects of registration, donor screening, and venipuncture in an accurate and efficient manner.
  • Perform accurate computer data entry, and accurate paperwork documentation.
  • Assist with frequent loading of supplies and equipment – many of which are heavy.
  • Assist with frequent set up/break down of mobiles including lifting of heavy objects. 
  • Calibrate and maintain cleanliness of equipment before and after collection activities.
  • Interact with co-workers in a friendly, professional and supportive manner.
  • Operate MBS vehicles on a PRN basis.
  • Help maintain interior cleanliness of all MBS vehicles.
  • Help perform pre-trip inspections on vehicles.
  • Acquire and maintain current CPR certification
  • Achieve and maintain an excellent attendance record
Requirements for Education/Skills/Abilities/Behavioral Assets:
  • High school graduate or equivalent; previous experience or training desirable.
  • Basic computer skills, including accurate data entry.
  • Valid driver's license w/excellent driving record (Motor Vehicle Record)
  • Ability to meet fluctuating work schedules with frequent travel, including some overnight travel (mobile positions)
  • Desire to make a difference – in this case, a life saving difference – every single day
  • Ability to work with and through others in a friendly, cooperative, unselfish manner
  • Ability to work closely and accurately within established guidelines
  • Ability to communicate in a manner that will stimulate, motivate, and persuade others while being aware of and responsive to their needs and concerns.
  • Ability to work at a faster than-average pace while maintaining absolute accuracy.
  • Ability to frequently lift and move equipment and supplies, both light and heavy loads.

Starting Salary: 
With experience - depends on level of experience.  Without experience - $9/hour plus $1.00/hour mobile differential after completion of paid training.  Rapid salary advancement possible on skills based career ladder!
