Mississippi Blood Services (MBS) was founded in 1979 and is the only Mississippi based not-for-profit blood center. MBS supplies a safe and adequate supply of blood and blood products to Mississippi hospitals from the Tennessee line to the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

The main processing center, located in Jackson, is supplemented with fixed site drawing stations throughout the state, and mobiles are conducted daily at various locations.

MBS has strict standards in volunteer donor acceptance. Although MBS relies on it’s donors, MBS is careful not to accept donations if they would be harmful to the donor or the recipient.

MBS offers a “mini physical” before each donation to ensure the donation process is safe for the donor and the recipient. A full round of blood tests is performed after each donation.

MBS ensures that donating blood is SAFE, SIMPLE and SAVES LIVES.
